The second season of FTWGL is about to get underway, with the first match of the regular season scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd. Area 51 Gaming is registered in all 3 gametypes: bomb mode, team survivor, and capture the flag. Our roster looks to be quite similar to last season’s, as we have not picked up any new recruits over the extended off-season. Notable changes are the addition of Don (back after a one season ban from FTWGL), and the loss of Evilal3x and Despair, who are unable to commit time to gaming at the moment. Outside of [51], the usual shuffling of players between the top clans has created some new competitors. Veneration (known as ]BoS[ last season) has absorbed some fresh talent, bringing them back into contention for the FTWGL titles. VeX, as always, is our #1 rival for the titles, and they have also used the off-season to recruit several very strong players. Exile has done some grave digging and brought back a lot of old school talent, making them a force to be reckoned with.
We played our first preseason match last week, facing off against >ZoD< on Village2 BM. ZoD is another team which is looking to make a run at the titles, after last season's late entry made reaching the playoffs almost impossible. The first map was quite close (7-5 for [51]), having not played together as a team in several months, but we rallied back for the second map with a definitive 9-2 victory. Undoubtedly ZoD was also shaking off the rust, so I expect we will see much more impressive performance from them in the future.
